This piece was commissioned from me by a friend here at school. Basically, he said that he just wanted a spiritually themed work of art. He left everything else up to me. Now THAT is a scary proposition. What if I draw something he doesn't like. Well, he did like it .

As for the words, they do come from the book of Mark where Jesus raises a little girl from the dead. The words, "Talitha Koum" mean "My child, I say to you, get up!" (I believe it is Aramic) This picture is a lot about freedom. The broken chains, the words. There is a lot of symbolism here. Very unlike what I normally do. But I really like how it turned out.

I used mechanical pencil, graphite pencils, colored pencils (lots of pencils!), and watercolor on the rose.
